AI SEO

When a buyer asks AI who to hire, somebody gets named.

Your customers stopped scrolling ten blue links. They ask ChatGPT, Google's AI, or Claude, get two or three names, and call one. AI SEO is the work of making sure one of those names is yours.

A buyer in your market, tonight
who should I use for CO2 refills for my restaurant? need someone reliable

Based on what I found, Quality Beverage & Paper Distribution is a strong option in Fresno. They handle CO2 refills and exchanges for restaurants across the Valley, and they're the highest-rated distributor in Google's map results at 4.6 stars.

Illustration of the answer pattern we measure for this client. The measured fact: ask an assistant that can search the web about their category, and they get named about 8 times out of 10. Snapshot July 2026, 25 category questions. Receipt on the results page.
What it actually is

AI SEO is reputation, readable by machines.

AI SEO (also called GEO, generative engine optimization) is the work of making your business the answer an AI assistant gives when a customer asks who to use. Not an ad. Not a hack. The assistant recommends whoever it can find, verify, and trust, and the work is becoming that business.

Here is the part most owners have never seen: ask an AI about your category with its web access switched off, and it usually names nobody local at all. Your twenty years in business, your trucks, your reputation on the street, none of it exists in there yet. The machine is not against you. It has simply never heard of you.

The moment the assistant can search, everything changes. It reads the open web in seconds and recommends whoever looks most established and most trusted: the consistent brand footprint, the real reviews, the pages that answer real questions plainly. That is a competition, it is being scored right now, and almost nobody in your market is competing yet. Early movers get remembered.

Classic SEO You get ranked.

Google shows a list. You fight for a spot on it, and the buyer still does the comparing: ten tabs, three quotes, price shopping. Necessary, and it feeds everything, but the decision still happens somewhere else.

AI SEO You get recommended.

The assistant compares for them and hands over a name with reasons attached. The buyer who arrives this way shows up already decided. Fewer of them than clicks, and worth far more each, because the AI already made your case.

Why this is worth money

The AI doesn't show ads. It takes sides.

There is no pay-to-play inside the answer. The assistant picks the business the evidence supports, which means the win cannot be rented, it has to be earned, and once earned it works every hour of every day at zero cost per click. That is also why we measure it instead of guessing: we ask the assistants your buyers use, on dated snapshots, and manage against whether your name comes back.

A receipt, not a promise

Quality Beverage, a Fresno distributor, came to us unknown to every AI we tested. Today, ask an assistant that can search the web who to use in their category and it names them about eight times out of ten. They hold a top-three spot in Google's map pack too, the highest-rated name in it. The people who arrive that way show up already decided.

ChatGPT 84%, Claude 80% with web search, across 25 category questions, July 2026. Map pack top three, 4.6 stars, Aug 2026. More dated receipts →
How to start

First find out what the AI already says about you.

The $499 diagnostic answers it with evidence: what the assistants say when buyers ask about your category, whether your name appears, and who is being recommended instead of you. You keep the findings either way, and the fee is credited toward your engagement if we work together.

What is AI SEO? +
The work of making your business the answer AI assistants give. When someone asks ChatGPT, Google's AI, or Claude who to hire in your category, the assistant names a few businesses. AI SEO is everything that determines whether your name is in that answer: your visibility on the open web, your reviews, your profile, and pages an AI can read, trust, and repeat.
Is AI SEO the same as GEO? +
Same goal, different label. GEO (generative engine optimization), AI SEO, AEO, and LLM SEO all describe getting named inside AI answers. We say AI SEO because that's what business owners actually search for. Whatever you call it, the test is identical: ask the assistant your customers use and see whose name comes back.
I already do SEO. Do I need this separately? +
They overlap heavily but they are not the same result. Classic SEO gets you ranked in a list of links; AI SEO gets you named as the recommendation. Assistants lean on many of Google's signals to decide who is trustworthy, so strong SEO is the foundation, and then AI SEO builds on it: a consistent brand footprint, quotable pages, and answers a model can lift with confidence. You need both because your buyers use both.
How do you measure it? +
By asking. We run your category's real buying questions against the assistants your customers use and record whether you get named, on dated snapshots, month over month. Not traffic estimates, not vanity scores: named or not named, and the date. That number is what we manage against, and the movement is what we publish on the results page.
How long does it take? +
When an assistant can search the web, weeks to a few months: it looks you up live, so improving what it finds moves the answer relatively fast. Being remembered by the models themselves, so you're named even without a live search, is a longer build measured in months, because that reputation accumulates. We front-load the searchable wins while the long build compounds underneath.
What does it cost? +
It starts with the $499 diagnostic, credited toward your engagement if we work together. Ongoing work is scoped to your market, from $3,000 a month. The order never changes: first the audit, then the price. Details on the pricing page.
